ABOUT US

Chislehurst Artists meet once a month on a tuesday evening throughout the year to enjoy a mixed programme of events

We have at least six demonstrations which cover various subjects including mediums and techniques

Many of our demonstrators are contributors to Art publications such as The Artist and Leisure Painter

We have regular saturday morning Life and Still Life drawing sessions and at least two of our tuesday evening meetings are practical sessions for portrait or still life drawing and painting

We are a friendly and lively group and there is ample opportunity to socialise and meet like minded people

All this for a very modest annual subscription of £40 inclusive of refreshments

HISTORY OF CHISLEHURST ARTISTS

In July 1988 three residents of Chislehurst decided to start a group for artists living in the area

They planned to hold an exhibition outside the Pop In Parlour in Chislehurst and asked friends who belonged to an Adult Education evening class to join them in exhibiting their paintings

Another exhibition followed in October 1988 at which point it was realised there were many artists in Chislehurst interested in starting a group

In January 1989 the first meeting of Chislehurst Artists took place and today there are now over 50 members who meet and exhibit their work regularly
